Getting stronger... and older

This week has been full of introspection for me... you see, this is my final week of being 34 years old. Yep, my birthday is this week, and for whatever reason, turning 35 has me a bit wigged out.
I find myself thinking back on my accomplishments... cheesy, I know, but it's true. Still, I'm fairly proud of what I've gotten done in 35(ish) years. I have two college degrees- one undergrad, one graduate. I have two incredible kidlets and a good husband. I have a good job that serves my community in a positive way. I've managed to take myself from morbidly obese to fit without medical intervention. I've done a half mary. Rode 150 miles on a bike.
None of it is anything to be ashamed of. And yet, I feel like there is still SO much left to accomplish. Full marathons to run. Triathlons to attempt. Traveling to do. And knowing me, I will do all of it and thensome. Life is too short to sit back and watch it pass you by- every day that you do NOTHING is a day wasted- and you get no do-overs. Nope... can't live that way. That's just how I roll.
Speaking of how I roll, I had a kick ass run this morning. Coach called it a 'progression run'... meaning that I got progressively faster through my 4 miles. My splits (times) for each mile were: 13`17; 12`20; 10`48; 9`39. 9'39?!?! WOO! Not too bad for a slow and (not as) fat runner! This run definitely made me feel better about my birthday. I might be getting older, but I'm also getting stronger. And that, my friends, is what aging should be like.

9:39?!?!?!?!? Dude! Holy fast split, batman!
Being 35 is awesome, by the way. It feels good. It's a good number, too. 34 is a kinda wimpy, in-between number, like 20 or 47. But 35 says something definitive, authoritative.
Congrats on the great run and your impending 35ness!
Crap! 9 minute miles? VERY cool! Happy Birthday!!
Ali, 35 is NOT old; I just turned 56 and I'm not old, never plan to get that way either. lol
Happy birthday!
35 is not old, but I understand how you feel. I just turned 50 and my goal for turning 50 was to be healthy and strong when I hit it. I'm there. My 40s were great. I expect my 50s to be even better thanks to the changes I've made. I think from 35 on, you're going to have an amazing time! Especially if you do all of the things on your bucket list!!
Great run times by the way.
